In this article, I was interviewed about my academic success and difficulties being an international student. Since its publication, the plans for my future have changed drastically, but my passion and desire to challenge myself have not. I thank the University of Delaware for giving me some of the happiest moments of my life and the support to surpass all my expectations when I first moved to the United States.

COCA-COLA AWARD

April 2013

Quito, Ecuador, had a massive problem with stray dogs and cats. So much that every day on my way to school, I'd see a new animal dying from sickness, hunger, or a car accident. At 16, I started rescuing dogs and bringing them to my house to wash, feed, and care for them. When I couldn't get a dog or cat to my house, I asked friends for help or took the animal to a shelter where I volunteered. Two years later, I was known as the "Crazy dog Girl" or "La Loca de Los Perros" by my school and neighborhood and received this award from Coca-Cola. Quito's stray dog problem is close to being solved; several people and shelters take animal care very seriously. New legislation has also prevented abuse from happening in the first place, but most importantly, people see these animals and care for them.
